Gastroenterology referrals

Gastrointestinal endoscopy services

Recently there have been several changes implemented to improve access to metropolitan public colonoscopy and gastroscopy services.

These changes included a new referral pathway via the Central Referral Service (CRS) (external site) and a standardised referral form.

This referral form is now available for the following GP software applications:

  • Best Practice
  • Medical Director
  • Medtech32
  • Genie
  • Practix.

Access these referral forms (external site) to request an endoscopic procedure.

A printable and writeable PDF template continues to be available.

From Friday 21 April 2017 it is mandatory for GPs to use one of these referral templates.

GPs will now receive the correct notifications regarding the progress of their referral and the CRS is able to maintain accurate data for reporting and management of enquiries.
