Environmental approval documentation
Under section 93 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, public comment was also sought regarding the “controlled action” of listed threatened species and communities (sections 18 and 18A) – Calyptorhynchus latirostris, Carnaby’s (short billed) black cockatoo and Caladenia huegelii, grand spider orchid.

The Federal Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts granted approval for the project under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 on 7 July 2008.
In August 2009, the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts agreed to a variation of condition 4.3 attached to the approval decision for the Fiona Stanley Hospital Project under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
